2017 Downtown Revitalization Project

Click for WEEKLY UPDATES

The roadwork planned as part of the 2017 Downtown Shediac Revitalization Project will begin Monday, April 10 along Main Street, between Sackville Street and the entrance to Home Hardware/No Frills. The work will continue until late June, after which the project will be put on hold to reduce traffic volumes during the peak season. The work will resume Monday, August 28 and will run through late November.

Estimated at around $3.5 million, the 2017 Shediac Downtown Revitalization Project was approved under the Government of Canada’s Clean Water and Wastewater Fund. Shediac residents will benefit from modernized water supply, sanitary sewer and storm water infrastructure on Main Street. Furthermore, the project includes adding trees and greenery, upgrading crosswalks and replacing sidewalks.

The work could pose challenges and side streets may be congested as an excess of motorists will be using alternate routes over the course of the project. Residents are therefore strongly encouraged to plan for extra travel time.

It should be noted that businesses will remain accessible throughout the project.
